The city of Verona is located about 15 minutes southwest of the capitol building in downtown Madison. Verona is a growing community because of its close proximity to Madison.
Verona has many things to offer. There are lots of good restaurants, plenty of shopping opportunities, recreational activities and community entertainment. Concerts in the Park are held during the summer. Throughout the year, the Verona Area Community Theater presents plays, and the Verona Performing Arts Series brings in nationally-recognized talent.
There are many recreational activities available. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail can be accessed from Verona. Right in the middle of downtown can be found the Military Ridge State Bike Trail. There are four Dane County parks nearby, Badger Prairie County Park, Donald County Park, Prairie Moraine County Park and the Walter R. Scheidegger County Forest. Badger Prairie County Park, Donald County Park and Prairie Moraine County Park are pet-friendly. The Verona Area School District has a 12-acre school forest and the Madison School Forest is located a few miles south of Verona. The Upper Sugar River Watershed provides a canoe and kayak water trail just outside of Verona.
Athletic facilities abound. For swimming there is the Verona Area High School Natatorium, the Goodman Aquatic Center and the Fireman's Park and Beach. For ice skaters there is the Eagle's Nest Ice Arena. For soccer fans, there is the Reddan Soccer Park. For baseball fans, there is the Verona Little League Baseball-Softball Complex. The University Ridge Golf Course is a few minutes north of Verona.
Verona boasts a beautiful public library, a convenient senior center and Rhapsody Arts Center.
Each year Verona holds its annual festival, Hometown Days, the second weekend in June. There is a carnival, parade, fireworks, live music, food, games and much, much more. The Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon/Verona Loop goes through Verona in September. People from all over the world compete in this event.
